Mr. Bill Orth, USD 387 Superintendent

Message from the Superintendent

Welcome to the official website of Altoona-Midway USD 387.  This site has been provided to inform users about student academics and activities.

The school district is governed by a board of education composed of seven members.  Members are elected to four year terms and the elections are staggered so that there is continuity on the board at each election.  The board operates under a governance system that clearly delineates the differences between the role of the board and that of the staff.  The board’s primary focus in enabling and assisting the staff in helping students reach the educational goals found in the boards policies.

Students of Altoona-Midway Schools have learning opportunities including strong curriculum leading to individual success, technology rich classrooms, full genre of curriculum to meet all students needs, and a strong commitment to non-curricular activities.  The district is also in a cooperative agreement with vocational education classes with other Wilson County Schools including welding and health care classes.

The school district has an outstanding staff.  It is through the teamwork approach and dedication of individuals that the mission of the district is reached.  It is the goal of this team to help all students learn the skills necessary to be responsible citizens who emerge from school prepared to succeed in life, contribute to their community, and to become life long learners.

As you visit this website we hope you discover and agree that the students of Altoona-Midway have many educational opportunities and use them to receive the best education possible.

Bill Orth
