AM Middle School Lady Jets Volleyball
Bump, Set, Attack is the name of the game when it comes to the AMMS Lady Jets Volleyball team! The squad began practice on the first day of school, August 22, 2012. Thirteen girls compose the Middle School Volleyball team, ready to work hard and train.
The season opened Sept. 10 at St. Pats triangular with Thayer. “It was obvious that this was our first competition” commented Coach Arnold, “we were full of nerves and anticipation and it more or less took us over, not to mention the competition.” However, the B Team did come out victorious against St. Pats.
The following Monday the Lady Jets traveled to Yates Center triangular to again meet Thayer. “We played them much better this time. We did split sets with them, as we did at St. Pats, but again fell short in the last set” observed Coach Arnold. The Lady Jets defeated Yates Center in two sets.
The first home match was on Sept. 20 with Chetopa and St. Pats. The AMMS girls defeated Chetopa in two sets and then lost to St. Pats. “The girls played very well against St. Pats. They are very tough and we came really close to taking them down. The girls were very focused and I am very pleased with their play. They now know what potential they really have” complimented Coach Arnold. The B team again was victorious against Chetopa.
The following Thursday the team traveled to Thayer to finally defeat Thayer but then lost in a close match to Marmaton Valley. The next competition was St. Paul. Again the squad came very close but fell short for the defeat. “We get up there and then clam up for the final set” said Coach Arnold. The B team defeated St. Paul.
Eighth grade girls on the Lady Jet squad are: Brittney Good, Hannah Drybread, Kailynn Wade and Victoria Faller. Seventh grade girls include: Orianna Fischer, Kim Drake, Sadie Stoldt, Savanah LaCrone, Natalee Morris and Haleigh Culbertson.
