A-M LADY JETS VOLLEYBALL
10-10-2012

The Lady Jet volleyball team has had a very exciting year thus far.  They have a new look (new uniforms and matching clothes for on and off the court), a new attitude (just ask the girls about doing ‘up-downs’ or the ‘three strike policy’), and new goals (to improve their overall record and win a round at the state volleyball tournament).  They are focused and more driven than ever this year.  They have already improved upon last year’s record and there are still more matches before the end of the season!

This new found drive is due to the fact that the girls have put in a ton of work and have had the support of others.  Majority of the team attended summer practices, camps, and also participated in Humboldt’s summer league.  Their fans are louder than ever and are extremely supportive.  It has also been a great honor that the women’s volleyball team of Neosho County Community College attended our last home game and also served as line judges.  The Lady Jets played extremely well that night.  They certainly caught the eye of certain NCCC players with a win over Chetopa (25-20, 25-23) and an electrifying game against Yates Center (26-28, 14-25).

Tuesday’s game brought about more competition against Neodesha (21-25, 15-25), Burlington (5-25, 9-25), and Erie (13-25, 15-25).  Senior, Nikki Almond lead the team with 5 aces for the night.  Despite the score, the Lady Jets showed much improvement with their defense.

They are now preparing themselves for the final matches of their season and getting themselves ready for the Sub-State tournament on October 20th at Leroy.  The competition should be intense, but the girls believe that they can perform to their potential.
